(Iowa City, IA) – Sean Kenny has been appointed as the pitching coach for the University of Iowa Baseball team, bringing 28 years of experience.
Previously, he was the pitching coach at the University of Houston for the 2024 season and spent seven years at the University of Georgia. During his tenure at Georgia, he helped the team to three NCAA Tournaments, including two as a national seed.
Despite injuries, his teams consistently performed well, with notable achievements including maintaining top 25 national rankings and setting school records for strikeouts and opponent batting averages. Kenny has also coached at the University of Michigan, University of Maryland, Pepperdine University, and University of San Diego, and started his coaching career at Saint Mary’s College and Laney Community College.
A graduate of Eastern Michigan and former professional player, Kenny has a track record of developing MLB draftees and improving pitching staff performance. He lives with his wife, Marissa, and their son, Ayden.
