(Iowa City, IA) – Former University of Iowa All-America linebacker Pat Angerer has been appointed as the color commentator for the Iowa football program. Angerer will team up with Gary Dolphin, the Voice of the Hawkeyes, starting August 31 for the season opener against Illinois State at Kinnick Stadium.
Angerer formally played for Iowa with a career that spanned from 2005-2009. The Bettendorf native recorded 258 tackles and earned first-team All-America honors in 2009. He was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award and led the Big Ten in tackles as a senior. Post-college, Angerer was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2010, where he played four seasons and was named to the PFWA and The Sporting News All-Rookie teams.
Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz stated, “Pat’s passion for Hawkeye football has been evident from the moment he set foot on campus nearly 15 years ago. He was the heartbeat of our team throughout his career, and I am confident that he will do a great job on the air.”
Angerer, who lives in Bettendorf with his family, is eager to bring his enthusiasm from the field to the broadcast booth.
