(Adair Co) The Adair County Board of Supervisors approved ARPA funding for a shelter house and latrine at Mormon Trail park.
Adair County Conservation Director Dominic Johnston said he received two bids for the shelter house and the low bid came in at $35,050. He received one bid for the install on the new latrine and demo on the old latrine at $43,000. Johnston said the shelter will go by the beach parking lot overlooking the beach area and the pit latrine will go down by the beach close to the old existing one.
Johnston said the new shelter will have water and electric. He said they intend for both projects to be complete by Memorial Day weekend.
Johnston also noted that they have around five or six picnic tables that have been donated and they would like to have at least ten. He said anyone can donate a table.
Meanwhile, all shower houses are open, electricity and water is on, and the boat ramps are all in.
In other news, the Supervisors held a public hearing on the FY25 Budget. There were no public comments. The Board approved the FY25 Compensation Resolution, a resolution approving the FY25 Budget, the budgeted FY25 American Rescue Plan Act Projects and the SICOG Resolution.
The Supervisors also held a public hearing on vacating a portion of 110th Street. There were no public comments for or against vacating the road and the resolution was approved.
The Supervisors then set a public hearing to vacate a portion of Afton Avenue for April 24th at 9:30 a.m.
