(Walnut) A grass fire along Interstate 80 spread north to a homestead, destroying two building sites and contents.
Walnut Fire Chief Michael Chapman tells KSOM/KS95 News that the call for a grass fire on the north side of Interstate 80 near the 48-mile marker went out at around 2:10 p.m. on Monday.

Chapman says firemen brought the blaze under control in approximately an hour. He says the cause of the fire is unknown, and there were no injuries.
Chief Chapman thanked a farmer for helping with the tractor and disk. The Atlantic, Avoca, Elk Horn, Harlan, and Marne fire departments assisted the Walnut Fire Department.
