(Iowa City, IA) – After winning the Big Ten Women’s Championship for the third season, why not be named to another award finalist list? Caitlin Clark has been named as a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award and has been named a finalist in every season, including winning the award last season.
This award is chosen by a bumper of national college basketball experts to compile a list of 15 athletes. The West Des Moines native has been a finalist for every National Player of the Year award, was just named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Award, and was The Athletic’s National Player of the Year. She was just also recently named the Big Ten Player of the Year and was the first player in Iowa history to be the First Team All-Big Ten honor for four years.
Clark currently leads the country in 20+ point games this season with a total of 33 games. She is the first player in college history to put down 3,700+ points, 1,000+ assists, and 850+ rebounds in their overall career. She also just recently passed Steph Curry’s three-point field goal record.
Iowa will return to action in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament when they see next Sunday who they’ll face off against in the opening round of action.
