(Area) The I.W.C.O.A. released its district coaches of the year, and S.W.A.T. Head Coach Tiffany South and Lewis Central Head Coach August Manz were named the Southwest District Coaches of the Year.
South began her coaching career in 2008 in New Mexico, coaching the youth programs until 2016, when she started a two-year stint at the 505 Wrestling Club. From there, she coached at Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from 2018 to 2021.
South began her coaching duties as the S.W.A.T. Valkyrie Head Coach in 2022. Her squad is 13-5 this season in duals and captured tournament titles at Pride of Iowa, Audubon, and the S.W.A.T. scramble.
Last season, her team finished second behind Lewis Central at the Super Regional, qualified six athletes for the state wrestling tournament with three place winners, and ended 16th overall.
S.W.A.T. will compete in the Super Regionals at Sioux City on Friday.
