(Ames) An Iowa DCI agent is accused of conducting a “warrantless search” when investigating Iowa and Iowa State athletes who gambled. Court documents say former Iowa State defensive lineman Isaiah Lee claims agent Brian Sanger had access to Kibana. This data tool permitted Sanger to create a Geofence around Iowa and Iowa State campuses to locate people gambling. The lawsuit says he had no tip, evidence, or complaint to investigate, but Sanger still GeoFenced several dorms and an athletic facility. Dozens of Iowa and Iowa State athletes were punished after being caught gambling in the investigation.
