(Des Moines) Portions of west central Iowa remain under a Blizzard Warning, some counties are under a Winter Storm Warning, and the area counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory this morning.
The Blizzard Warning is for Crawford, Carroll, Audubon, and Guthrie Counties until 6:00 p.m. A multi-faceted, dangerous winter storm will continue. This dangerous storm will bring additional light snow across portions of west central Iowa and north and east. Winds will continue to increase, with life-threatening blizzard conditions, especially this afternoon to evening across portions of central and northern Iowa. Dangerous temperatures follow this weekend through early next week, with wind chill values down to 45 below zero expected.
The Winter Storm Warning lasts until 6:00 p.m. for Monona, Harrison, Shelby, Pottawattamie, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, and Page Counties. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below zero. For the Winter Storm Warning, additional snow accumulations up to one inch with winds gusting as high as 40 mph may cause visibility to drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. The Wind Chill Warning is in effect until Tuesday Morning.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6:00 p.m. this evening for Cass, Adair, Adams, Union, and Taylor Counties in Southwest Iowa. The Wind Chill Warning is in effect until Tuesday morning, with wind chills as low as 45 below zero. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. For the Winter Weather Advisory, additional snow accumulations of up to one inch with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
