(Ames) A protester was tackled to the ground at a rally for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The protester attempted to join DeSantis on stage in Iowa on Thursday night, carrying a sign that said “DeSantis: Climate Criminal.” As he climbed on stage, a security guard tackled and removed the protester from the area. DeSantis said it was an example of what’s “wrong with the college system” in America. Minutes before the incident, other protesters interrupted the event and were removed by security. DeSantis is in Iowa gearing up for the state’s caucus, which will take place Monday.
DeSantis Never Back Down Tour will roll through Atlantic on Saturday afternoon, January 13. The Florida Governor will appear at the Downtowner at 222 Chestnut Street at 12:15 p.m. The doors open at 11:45 a.m.
