(Atlantic) ACSD Technology Coordinator Roger Warne presented a technology update during the Atlantic school board meeting Wednesday.
Warne presented on various technology aspects, including interactive televisions. These interactive TVs are large touch screen devices with computers located inside them. Warne noted these TVs as “the best piece of technology we’ve put in the classroom since my tenure here.”
During his proposal, Warne asked for 25 additional interactive TVs for an estimated $75,000-85,000.
Along with the TVs, Warne also presented a new security product the district will be utilizing. This product is called KnowBe4 and is used to train staff on security awareness.
Warne also shared that 110 staff members will receive upgraded laptops, as their current MacBook Airs are 7-8 years old. They will be replaced with MacBook Pros for an estimated total cost of $198,000. In the summer of 2025, Chromebooks will be also replaced for grades 6-12. The estimated cost for 900 devices is $360,000.
Other areas presented on include new security cameras in Washington and Schuler Elementary, updated access points (wireless routers) in various buildings, firewall replacement, and other technology related aspects.
