(Atlantic) School cancellations due to inclement weather are often an occurrence in Iowa.
KSOM News spoke to Atlantic Superintendent Beth Johnsen about how the procedure works.
Johnsen explained that a large part of the decision process including discussing options with neighboring superintendents.
After weather conditions on Monday and Tuesday, Johnsen said they’re considering a late start for schools tomorrow (Wednesday.)
Johnsen also added that student days are still on track for the school year.
The superintendent also noted she discusses with Transportation Director Steve Andersen on his thoughts in regards to bus capabilities, but overall it is Johnsen’s final decision.
