(Des Moines) Moderate to heavy snow will spread across Iowa on Monday and Tuesday.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for southwest and west central Iowa from 9:00 a.m. on Monday to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Heavy snow is forecasted, with snow accumulations from six to eleven inches and wind gusts as high as 40 miles per hour by Tuesday afternoon. This will cause hazardous driving conditions with patchy blowing snow and reduced visibility, which could impact the morning or evening commute.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
