(Sidney) A Fremont County Man is in custody on burglary charges.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office arrested 65-year-old Daniel Jay Kitchens of Thurman, Iowa, on Monday for 3rd-degree burglary and violation of a no-contact order. Authorities held him in the Fremont County jail on a $10,000 bond.
On December 7, Kitchens posted a $5,000 cash bond on a charge of extortion. On November 16, Kitchens posted an $18,000 cash bond in connection with an incident involving the discharge of a firearm during an altercation.

In a separate case, deputies arrested 39-year-old Justin Kase Moore of Council Bluffs on an active warrant for Eluding. Moore turned himself in at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office on Monday. It is alleged that in July of 2023, Moore led Fremont and Mills County deputies on a pursuit ending in Nebraska. Moore was released after posting the $1,000 cash bond.
