(Villisca) Villisca Firefighters responded to a structure fire early this morning at 900 South U Avenue.
Villisca Fire Chief John Bruce says the occupants believed they had distinguished the blaze; however, when firefighters arrived, they found extensive fire damage at the back of the porch area and an active fire spread to the attic.
Villisca, Stanton, and Grant firemen were at the scene for approximately two hours.
Montgomery County Communications and the Villisca Public Works were the other agencies assisting with the fire.
Fire Chief John Bruce, said the fire is believed to have originated in the area of the electrical wiring for an outside security light. The damage to the home is unknown at the time of this release. The damage amount was unknown at the time of the report, but the structure is still livable.
There were no injuries to the occupants or any fire/rescue personnel.
