(Pottawattamie County) The Mt. Crescent Ski Area in western Iowa, about fifteen miles Northeast of Omaha, will push back its opening day due to warmer-than-anticipated seasonal temperatures.
Staff say they need more snow on the ground before they can open. Earlier this year, Mt. Crescent planned a tentative December 30 date. Staff hope to reopen by January 3 but say it will likely take longer. Despite the weather delay, they are still planning on an eight-to-ten-week-long season.
Staff says the snowmaking team is doing everything they can to open, but they need some help from Mother Nature.
