(Des Moines, IA) — There’s a rising trend of Iowans starting their own small businesses. That means more phone calls to the Iowa Small Business Development Center.
That’s Associate State Director Austin Strawhacker. The SBDC runs 15-regional centers, offering advice.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy’s 2023 data, there are 272,465 small businesses in Iowa, making up 99.2 percent of Iowa businesses. Those small businesses are defined as firms with fewer than 500 employees.
