(Griswold) During the Griswold School Board Meeting last Monday, the board addressed an amendment regarding Athletic or Extracurricular Eligibility
After discussion, the board determined the ineligibility period for all extracurricular activities is one week probation. A student would be deemed ineligible if they are failing a class. This one week probation would be followed by a second week of ineligibility if the student’s grade is not passing. If a student is still not passing after two weeks, they will be evaluated weekly for eligibility until obtaining a passing grade.
Griswold Superintendent Dave Henrichs told KSOM that “while we all believe strongly in the athletic and activity piece of it, our main priority is academics.” This eligibility amendment can be found in the Griswold Middle School/High School Handbook. The Board also motioned to revise all middle school and high school sections into one for consistency.
The next regular meeting will be held on January 15th, 2024.
