(Atlantic) The Atlantic Police Department and Atlantic Police Reserves are gearing up for a big weekend of giving. Atlantic Police Chief Devan Hogue says it starts before the sun comes up tomorrow morning to set up for the “Family Dreams Christmas.”
Chief Hogue says eight complete families will be paired up and go with reserves, and they will go shopping in town for what they need.
Chief Hogue says four additional families will enter and go through the Police Department’s makeshift toy room.
Hogue says the families are very appreciative, and the police reserves are glad to get the chance to do it.
Chief Hogue says 39 kids and 18 adults signed up for the “Family Dreams Christmas.” He speaks on Sunday; 37 children are currently signed up for the “Shop with the Cop” program at Walmart. Law Enforcement from the Atlantic Police Department and Reserves, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources take the children shopping.
