(Iowa City, IA) – The Iowa men’s basketball team got off to a good start midway through the first half to help in their win over Quincy 103-76. Iowa started off trailing by 10 in the first five minutes of the game, and went on a scoring run, outscoring the Hawks 43-16 to head to the half leading 49-32.
Seven Hawkeyes finished in double figures in the competition including Patrick McCaffery, Ben Krikke, Payton Sandfort, Owen Freeman, Josh Dix, and Tony Perkins. Breaking down the stats of the game, McCaffery led the team in scoring with 16 points, and three rebounds, and went perfect at the charity stripe going 7-7 in the game. Valparaiso transfer Ben Krikke was right behind McCaffery with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and two assists. Payton Sandfort shot 50% from the field with 13 total points while Owen Freeman and Pryce Sandfort had 12 points in the game. Finishing things off in double-digit scoring is both Josh Dix and Tony Perkings with 10 points each.
Leading in scoring the Quincy was Orlando Thomas with 15 points and three steals. Following Orlanda is Isaiah Foster with 14 points, three assists, and two turnovers. Zion Richardson earned 12 points, and eight rebounds, and dished out four assists in the game. Nate Shockey finished things off in double-digit scoring with a total of 10 points.
Iowa will take on North Dakota in just about a week on November 7th, with the opening tipoff at 7:00 p.m.
