(Audubon) The (7-1) Audubon Wheelers carry a seven-game winning streak into Friday night’s 8-player first-round playoff game. The 8-player district #9 champions host Boyer Valley from district #1.
Audubon Head Coach Sean Birks says the Wheelers came into this season with a bad taste in their mouths.
The game features physical teams that like to run the football, and both execute the run game quite well. The Wheelers have rushed for 2,404 yards this season; Boyer Valley, 1,939.
Coach Birks is impressed with the Bulldog’s defensive line and points to the skills of free Safety Owen Garside.
The Wheelers have a dual threat in the backfield with Evan Alt and Aaron Olsen. Alt has rushed for 978 yards, and Olsen, 1,056.
Boyer Valley has forced 23 turnovers this season with 18 interceptions and five fumble recoveries. The Wheelers have eight interceptions and six fumble recoveries. The Wheelers have a threat on special teams, with Evan Alt averaging 47 yards per kick-off return and two touchdowns.
