#11 Iowa St. 28, West Virginia 16
It was a breakout game for bruising back Carson Hansen. The Sophomore from Lakeville, Minnesota rushed it 20 times for 96 times and 3 TD. QB Rocco Becht got some measure of revenge against the Mountaineers who did not recruit him. Becht had hoped to follow in his father’s footsteps in Morgantown but WVU did not notice him. Becht’s Dad Anthony Becht was inducted during the game in the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame — he played tight end for the Mountaineers from 1996-99 then spent 11 seasons in the NFL and is now a head coach for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL. Rocco was 18-26 passing for 265 yards and 1 TD — a 60 yarder to Jaylin Noel.
Iowa St. improves to 6-0 for the first time since 1938, a team that started 7-0. The Cyclones will host Central Florida at 6:30 pm next Saturday.
