(NAFB) A federal judge denied a request to block a federal rule change related to farm worker wages. The judge’s order denied USA Farm Labor and other plaintiffs’ motions for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction. Alex Cracchiolo (Crack-ee-OH-low), head of marketing at USA Farm Labor, says the rule change will mean increasing costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars every year.
With the rule change, he’s seen wage rates jump by eight-to-ten dollars an hour. Small farms and ag businesses can’t afford it…tape
While the judge denied the request, he also rejected the Labor Department’s motion to dismiss the case. Plaintiffs can proceed with a standard federal court timeline.
