(Greenfield) At this time, the Greenfield Municipal Utilities water treatment plant is in the early stages of becoming operational. Officials say they are slowly beginning to treat water to replace the stored water used today.
GMU Officials ask their customers to continue to conserve water by not using it for nonessential purposes (car washing, garden, yard, or flower watering). However, water can be used for essential purposes such as cooking, bathing, and laundry. We do ask that you keep showers/baths or laundry loads to a reasonable limit.
Authorities say that while things can change in the blink of an eye, as discovered early this morning, if all goes well, they hope that its water reserves will be restored over the remainder of the week and life will return to normal.
The water treatment facility went offline sometime during the overnight hours. They asked customers to conserve water usage until the system could be fixed.
