(Ames, IA) The Ames Fire Department says an equipment malfunction caused the fire at the Iowa State University’s Power Plant yesterday. The fire started around 10:45 a.m. The crews say the equipment had a complete failure, which then ignited the operating oil connected to it. The fire was put out about an hour later.
