(Exira, IA) – The Spartans are looking to a new era this season. With a young team, they are looking to develop talent over time as they are looking to revamp their offensive and defensive approach this season.
Coach Reischauer is going to be moving players around in the rotation this season. Exira-EHK has quite a few freshmen moving up to the varsity level and they are looking to get the varsity experience right away. The expectations are uncertain at this point for the Spartans as they will have a new team and outlook on the year.
The Spartans are returning some impactful talent from last season. Gemini Goodwin and Hannah Nelson are both returning seniors this season as Goodwin and Nelson were both impactful in the defensive game. Mayne Jorgensen is a returning junior from last year as she had eight aces and an 87% serving percentage. These three individuals are going to be impactful on the floor for Exira-EHK this season and put into another position different from last year.
Jaelyn Petersen is one Spartan that is put in the spotlight for her statistics from last season. Petersen was third in kills with 129 and was second in digs with 147. Alongside those statistics, the sophomore tied for second in serving aces with 29 and had the second-best serving percentage last season based on total serves. She is one player that coach Reischauer is looking to revolve his new offense around this season.
Exira-EHK will take on Griswold and Lenox in their first triangular matchup at Griswold High School on August 24th starting at 5:30 pm.
