(Atlantic) The semi-driver was injured in an accident on Interstate 80 late Monday afternoon.
Authorities say the accident happened at around 5:30 p.m. near the 54-mile marker. Cass EMS transported the female driver to CCMH and airlifted her to a trauma center.
The eastbound semi-hauling meat left the roadway and crashed into the south ditch near the Highway 173 off-ramp. No other details are available at this time.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Cass EMS, Marne, and Atlantic Fire Departments, and Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the scene. Authorities also contacted the DNR to investigate a fuel leak.
