(Atlantic) The Cass County Fair does not officially start until Thursday, but some activity will begin at the fairgrounds tomorrow. Cass County Extension Youth Coordinator Katie Blake says Wednesday is a day for 4Her’s on the fairgrounds.
Blake says countless hours of volunteer time and effort are given by Fairboard members, department superintendents, Youth Action Committee, Grounds Committee, Junior Fairboard, Junior Superintendents, and 4-H Youth Council to make the Cass County Fair one of the few free fairs in Iowa.
Blake says 36 superintendents are each responsible for planning and organizing a specific department or event at the Cass County Fair. She says helping them plan and carry out this responsibility are many assistant superintendents and 4-H junior superintendents. The junior superintendents are active high school-aged 4-H members who work with adult superintendents to carry out and evaluate the activities.
The Cass County Fair runs July 27 through August 1.
