(Griswold) Zach Nunn, Representative for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, toured the site of the new Lakin Childcare Development Center in Griswold.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Center in March. Currently, the framing of the building is up, windows are in place and siding is being put on. The 8,800 sq. ft. facility will have four classrooms and a half gymnasium and will be capable of serving up to 100 children from six weeks old to four years old, including a separate area for before and after school care for elementary age kids.
Congressman Nunn said he is proud that Griswold is becoming a nexus for families who not only want to stay here, but are going to have the next generation of Iowa kids going to school across the street and getting their start at the Lakin Child Development Center.
Nunn spoke about a bill he is working on regarding the reinvestment in rural communities.
Nunn said they will get to put forward the Rural Development Revitalization Act in the farm bill this year.
Nunn said they are also working on what they can do with overall infrastructure and addressing the workforce issues.
