(Ames) It’s been a record-spending year for road construction in the Hawkeye State. New numbers from the Iowa Department of Transportation show the state spent a record one-point-four-seven-billion dollars on road and bridge projects in the fiscal year that wrapped up June 30th. That money was put toward nearly 840 different projects. The biggest chunk of money was 358 million dollars that went to numerous projects for the interstate system to keep traffic running as smoothly as possible.
