(Council Bluffs) A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a pickup in Council Bluffs Saturday morning.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says officers and medics were dispatched to the on-ramp to I-80 westbound from Highway 6 at 7:29 a.m. The driver of the motorcycle had been ejected and found to be in the east ditch. Medical personnel transported the driver to UNMC where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Preliminary investigation showed both the pickup and motorcycle were entering I-80 westbound from Highway 6 with the pickup in front. As they got close to the merge, for an unknown reason the motorcycle rear-ended the pickup. This caused the motorcycle to hit the guardrail, ejecting the driver.
The driver of the pickup, Dustin Harris of Underwood, was not injured. The name of the motorcyclist has not been released at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
