(Creston) Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Creston this (Wednesday) afternoon.
The Creston Police Department says 42-year-old Matthew Slutsky, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was driving a 2023 Chrysler Voyager westbound on Highway 34. 19-year-old Jaxayra Matul, of Osceola, was driving a 2004 Nissan pickup, stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 34 and Osage Street. Matul stated there was a vehicle in the turn lane and she could not see any other vehicle, so she proceeded south through the intersection. A witness said Slutsky did everything he could to avoid the accident, but could not and his van collided with the pickup.
Two passengers who were in the box of the pickup were transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.
Matul was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.
