(Des Moines) A petition is gathering signatures to get Indira Sheumaker off the Des Moines City Council. The Lower Beaver Neighborhood Association sent letters to the City Council and directly to Sheumaker asking her to step down, or the council to remove her because of absences. An online petition started by Angelo Thorne, a resident and property manager in the River Bend neighborhood, is collecting signatures. Thorne says he started the petition drive after multiple attempts by several people to contact Sheumaker.
