(Des Moines) Half of Iowa remains under an air quality alert today. Unhealthy air lingers in the state’s eastern half due to smoke from Canadian forest fires. Once it clears, however, that doesn’t mean the threat will be over. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Air Quality Bureau says as long as the fires continue in Canada, the threat of smoke and haze drifting into Iowa’s air remains. Air is expected to be better today in the state’s western half.
