(Atlantic) Marne Fire Chief Josh Krause and an unidentified Cass County Health System staff member came to rescue a man suffering from a medical condition on Friday morning. Cass County Communications initially reported an unresponsive male at 7th and Olive Street in Atlantic. Chief Krause recalls sitting at the stop light at around 9:00 that morning when he saw a vehicle a couple of cars ahead of him pull up on the shoulder.
Krause and the unidentified Nurse determined the man was not breathing, so they acted quickly, pulled the gentleman out of the vehicle and on the ground, and started CPR. Chief Krause used his fire department radio to contact the communication center to get the first responders en route.
Krause admits it makes all of the hours of training worth it.
The patient survived and was transported to CCMH. Chief Krause says hopefully, the gentleman has a speedy recovery.
