MidAmerican Energy Requests Gas Delivery Rate Increase

(Des Moines, IA)  —  MidAmerican Energy is requesting a gas delivery rate increase in Iowa. If approved by the Iowa Utilities Board next year, customers would see an average six-percent increase in their monthly gas bill. MidAmerican says the rate increase is needed to serve more customers and new security standards. The company provides gas to more than 600-thousand customers in Iowa. Overall, MidAmerican says natural gas is getting cheaper. If the trend continues, customers should see a 30-percent decrease in their bills year-over-year. Five in-person public meetings will be held in July and August to discuss the proposed increase. It would be the first-rate increase since 2002.
