(Corning) The Corning and Villisca School Boards held a joint meeting Monday evening.
Superintendent Chris Fenster said they discussed the emergency operation plan for both districts to make sure everything is up to date and went over a staffing update. Fenster said Jennifer Bissel will be the new High School Principal/Counselor this school year. But, they still have openings for a high school science teacher, 6th grade ELA position, there is a Special Ed opening at Enarson Elementary and they need some paraeducators in all buildings.
Fenster said the Board also discussed the continuation of having a School Resource Officer in the school setting. He said they have had an SRO for four years and their current officer is not going to do it next year and so the Sheriff’s Office asked the Boards if they were still interested.
Following the joint meeting, the Corning Board of Education held their regular meeting. Fenster said the board approved the 2023-2024 Student Fees.
