(Red Oak) Red Oak Fire Fighters responded to a residential fire late Tuesday night.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says the call went out at 11:46 p.m. at 300 East Market Street. Arriving firemen reported the structure fully engulfed in flames. The Countywide automatic aid for fires went into effect, and Elliott and Stanton Firemen responded to the scene. Crews controlled the fire at around 12:29 a.m. and terminated operations at 2:00 a.m.
Chief Bruce says the property, owned by the city, is abandoned and slated for demolition as a dilapidated structure. The blaze caused approximately $20,000.00 in damage to a neighboring residence from radiant heat.
There were no injuries to emergency services or civilians.
The assisting agencies included; Red Oak Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Communications, MidAmerican Utilities, Red Oak Public Works, and Elliott and Stanton Fire Departments.
Chief Bruce is asking residents in the area who may have home surveillance systems to review those and report any suspicious activity to the Red Oak Police Department (712-623-6500) or the Red Oak Fire Department (712-623-6504).
