(Atlanta, GA) — Close to one in five Americans are diagnosed with depression, but the range varies greatly by state. New CDC data shows that it goes from about 13-percent in Hawaii to just over 27-percent in West Virginia. Researchers wrote in the report that they saw the highest estimates of depression “along the Appalachian and southern Mississippi Valley regions.” The report says it aims to provide numbers hoping that “decision-makers” can allocate resources where they’re needed the most.
