(Ankeny) An Atlantic native received the Iowa Pharmacy Association’s Thomas R. Temple Mentorship Award.
CoraLynn Trewet began her journey with the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) in 2011 as the Executive Intern. She was mentored by CEO Emeritus Tom Temple, his staff and many IPA members. A graduate of Drake University, Dr. Trewet was mentored by Renae Chesnut, Darrel Bjornson and several other impactful faculty members. She completed a Pharmacy Management Residency and Masters in Pharmacy Administration from the University of Kansas while mentored by Harold Godwin.
For several years, Dr. Trewet worked at the University of Iowa as an Associate Clinical Professor practicing in family medicine. In this role, she mentored countless students and loved watching them grow and succeed. Currently, Dr. Trewet serves as the Senior Medical Science Liaison in cardiovascular disease at Bristol Myers Squibb.
According to her nominators, Dr. Trewet’s mentorship is “invaluable” to her mentees’ personal and professional growth. She is “invested” in the students she mentors, pushing them to be confident in their knowledge and abilities. Dr. Trewet never turns down an opportunity to provide guidance to future practitioners. As one nominator put it, “She always has time for YOU.”
Dr. Trewet is active in state and national pharmacy organizations, as well as her church and community. Dr. Trewet lives in Ankeny with her husband, Matt, and three children, Carter (and Hope), Cate and Charlie. She hopes to inspire her mentees as much as they inspire her, and as much as she has been inspired over the years.
The Thomas R. Temple Mentorship Award recognizes an individual who has mentored, supported and sponsored pharmacists in a transformative way.
