(Atlantic) The Atlantic Fire Department was called to a house fire at 706 Olive Street shortly 10:00 p.m. Monday night.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said when they arrived on scene, they had heavy flames in the basement of the home. Nobody was living in the house at the time and there were no injuries.
The Fire Department was on scene for over two hours getting all the hotspots put out. The fire is under investigation.
Cappel thanks Cass EMS, Atlantic Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol for assisting with traffic control as they had to shut down the Highway at 7th and Olive Street to tag a hydrant.
