(Des Moines) The Iowa Attorney General’s Office joins 48 other states in a lawsuit against Avid Telecom for illegally allowing billions of fraudulent robocalls to scam millions of Americans. The suit says the company sent over 24 billion calls using fake or invalid caller ID numbers, including over eight million calls that impersonate the government and law enforcement agencies. The attorney general’s office says at least nine-thousand calls have targeted Iowans in the last four years.
