(Adair) The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Central Southwest Iowa in Adair held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground on Saturday at 807 Broad Street in Adair.
Heather Schneider, Executive Director, says the new playground replaces the former household-style equipment with a school-grade playground. Schneider says the project is financed through a state grant.
The facility opened in 2002 and is open to kindergarten through 18 years during the school year from 3:40 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer months.
Besides the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the staff provided tours of the facility.
Schneider says students going into kindergarten are eligible to sign up for the summer program. The cost for the summer is $75.00 for breakfast club and $75.00 for lunch. The club plans numerous field trips during the summer-some of their cost, some of them do not.
The club averages 30 children a day during the school year and upwards of 100 kids per day during the summer.
