(Undated) — Most of Iowa was hit by strong thunderstorms, with large hail, heavy rain, and strong winds last night. Baseball-sized hail was reported in Boone County, west of Ames, and Poweshiek County, east of Des Moines. Tennis ball-sized hailstones damaged homes in Adair County, southwest of Des Moines. Damage to power lines and streetlights was reported in the Cedar Rapids area. The Quad Cities saw ping-pong ball-sized hail, with wind up to 70 miles an hour. In Cedar Rapids, a woman was struck by lightning just before the storm moved into the region.
