(Anita) The CAM School Board on Monday night held public hearings for the 2023-2024 school calendar and a proposed certified budget. Following the two hearings, the board approved the calendar and the budget.
“Students will start school on August 23, and a projected ending date of May 23,” said CAM Schools Superintendent Paul Croghan. “The proposed tax levy is $8.92, down 99 cents from last year.”
The board also approved a revised calendar for the current school year. The last of school for students is May 26, and the staff will return for two days after Memorial Day.
The School Board also approved a reduction in staff for one school secretary and a part-time custodian for the next school year. The board also approved a 15-day sharing agreement for a school librarian with Nodaway Valley and the out-of-state senior trip to “Top Golf” in Omaha.
The facilities committee presented their final recommendation to move to a two-building campus. Close the north elementary building in Anita, and continue with Pre-kindergarten through 6th grade at Massena and 7-12 at the high school in Anita. The School board will vote on the recommendation in May.
