(Avoca) The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office is releasing more information on the apartment fire in Avoca on Saturday.
Pottawattamie County Deputies and Avoca, Walnut, and Hancock Fire Departments were dispatched to the 200 Block of North Walnut Street in Avoca for a house fire. A 29-year-old resident was found deceased inside. The male was identified as Steven Stinson of Avoca.
Due to the death from the fire, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
Sheriff Brown and the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office offer their condolences to the family and friends of Steven Stinson.

(Avoca) Avoca Fire Chief Drew Becker tells KSOM/KS95 News they were dispatched to an apartment fire at around 5:21 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Becker said the fire was on the backside of a three-apartment complex.
Avoca Fire Department Lt. Ethan Bearley was first on the scene.
Chief Becker says most of the damage is contained to a single apartment. Becker says there were no injuries to firefighters, and at the time of this release, all other information was to be directed to the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.
Becker thanks the Walnut, Harlan, and Hancock Fire Departments for their assistance.
