(Avoca) Avoca Fire Chief Drew Becker tells KSOM/KS95 News they were dispatched to an apartment fire at around 5:21 p.m. on Saturday. Chief Becker said the fire was on the backside of a three-apartment complex.
Avoca Fire Department Lt. Ethan Bearley was first on the scene. He said the fire was coming from two windows, broken out by the neighbors attempting to put the blaze out with a garden hose. Bearley said they made an interior attack and doused the fire in about five minutes.
Chief Becker says most of the damage is contained to a single apartment. Becker says there were no injuries to firefighters, and any other inquiries will be directed to the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office.
Becker thanks the Walnut, Harlan, and Hancock Fire Departments for their assistance.
