(Des Moines) Critical fire weather conditions will affect a handful of southwest Iowa counties this afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Pottawattamie, Cass, Adams, Montgomery, Mills, Fremont, Page, and Taylor Counties from noon to 8:00 p.m. Gusty winds of 20-to-25 miles per wind with gusts up to 35 miles per hour are forecast for this area. Couple that with falling humidity and warm temperatures, and any developing fire will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
