(Des Moines) Iowa District #9 Senator Tom Shipley says the issues in the Iowa Legislature are narrowing down. One proposed bill that made it through the committee could change Iowa’s child labor law.
Senator Shipley says this bill focuses on expanding the hours a 14–17-year-old can work.
Shipley says the proposed bill is not necessarily geared to address the worker shortage,
The proposed bill would expand the hours teens 14-17 years of age may work and allow 16 and 17-year-olds to serve alcohol in bars and restaurants with written permission from their parents or legal guardians.
