(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board will start Wednesday’s School Board meeting with a public hearing to consider extending the instructional support levy and act on five resignations, along with a handful of contract recommendations.
The district will search for a new middle school principal, a 6th-grade science teacher, and a head boys’ basketball coach if approved. Scot Aden, Middle School Principal, recently resigned after accepting a similar position with the Carroll School District. Derek Hall submitted his resignation as Head Boys’ Basketball Coach and 6th-grade science teacher, two para-educators, Marcella Peck and Jenifer Ruggard, and Mikayla Schuler, a Kindergarten teacher.
The Board will also act on contract recommendations for the following teachers; Kirstin Blake, Kindergarten; Hannah Alff, second grade; and Christin Simonton, preschool. Shawn Macha, Substitute/Activity Bus Driver, and Derek Knisely, Assistant Boys’ Soccer Coach.
The Board will also act on the hiring of nine Volunteer Coaches:

*Boys Golf-Darby McLaren
*Boys and Girls Track-Bruce Henderson
*Tennis-James Northwick
*Boys Soccer-Cal Heuton
*Baseball-Josh McLaren and Darby McLaren
*Softball-Bob Gross
The Board will also consider extending the current Instructional Support Levy for another five years. The money is used for any general fund purpose. The Board will also act on the 2023-2024 school calendar.
