(Audubon) The Audubon County Supervisors are re-evaluating the stop signs at an intersection in Gray.
It’s back to the drawing board for a three-way stop that was at one time approved to move to a four-way stop. “We approved a stop sign in Gray on a three-way stop making it a four-way at the request of the Gray City Council. We did that about two weeks ago. We didn’t think it was a big deal, but I expected there would be some complaints. Well, there’s been quite a bit of complaints this past week.” Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen explains. “The biggest contention is truck traffic coming from the west where there wasn’t a stop signa and now there is.”
At the center of the issue is the ability for trucks to make a tight turn. “Having to get around that corner from a stop, the corner is kind of tight and they kind of need to get over in the other lane just to make the corner and so it kind of makes it a conundrum. Basically we are putting the stop sign on hold and asking the Gray City Council to get back together and review it and actually talk to the farmers to see if we can come up with a solution that works for everybody. We don’t want some kids in Gray to get mowed over by someone coming from the west and proceeding through Gray at 45 miles per hour. We don’t want a big issue, but at the same time we have to look out for our local farmers who are navigating these corners with trucks. ”
Elsewhere, two bids were received Tuesday for a new air conditioner in the IT Room. “The air conditioner that is in there is only made for a small house and it’s not big enough. As you add IT Servers and things those great a lot of heat. You need an air conditioner that will take away that heat. What we have in there is only about 1/3 big enough. It’s always a problem with opening doors and running fans and trying to keep that room cooled off.”
Both bids came in within $58 of each other so they went with the local company which is Remsburg Service. The cost is approximately $9,500.
